Find Joy in the Journey

The journey of life is not a straight one. I'm sure you can agree with that statement. Life is filled with ups and downs, disappointments, failures and victories, turns and twists, surprises, fears, and so much more.

If you are living according to your God ordained purpose, then you will understand that it does not start rosy and joyful. Infact the challenges we face are a system God put in place to strengthen you so you come out strong and victorous. The journey was not built to consume you but equip you for your assignment.

How are you enjoying yours? Is it filled with complaints before God reminding Him daily that you cannot do something? Without you knowing, complaining delays your journey. Observe what happend with the children of Israel who extended a forty days journey to forty years. They made terrible mistakes blaming Moses and God. They couldn't undertand that God was always with them. The problem and mistake many of you make is that you refuse to view things from God's perspective.

Let me share a recent story. I recently had a job that was an hour away from home meaning I drove two hours everyday for work. I worked with elementary and junior high kids in special education at a behavioral school unit. I've never worked with kids in that capacity and it was a tough group to work with. I wanted to leave almost immedatiely but God said no. Imagine driving two hours to a job you were not necessarily fond of? That would make it more difficult. I stayed for the year and finished out strong. I'm proud of myself because I was streched and grew tremendously. If not for the opportunity I would not have gained certain knowledge, strength, or capacity.

One day while driving I was talking to God asking Him questions such as "God why am I at this job?", "What's the purpose?". I would tell him that I was tired and not built for it. In that moment I felt an overwhelming strength and peace that came upon me and He started to speak to me deep things. He told me "You are stronger than you think". This encouraged me knowing that I am where I'm suppose to be. Did the challenges end? No, however I went through that season because God was intentional about me and where I am headed beyond that current job. I had to speak to myself whenever I had a rough day and lean on God. Changing my mindset tremendously transformed the way I viewed that season. As I reflected on that season, I can boldy say "Wow Tola you really are a strong woman."

Find joy in your journey. Whatever it is you are facing, it will not last forever. If you take a step back for a moment and ignore the negative occurances you will always find joy in it! Try it today and I pray that the strength and peace of God covers you.

“.....and do not be worried, for the joy of the Lord is your strength and your stronghold.””

‭‭Nehemiah‬ ‭8‬:‭10‬ ‭AMP‬‬
