Growing up I was told that if something does not work one way, try another because there's always a solution.
I recently bought a new purse and the first thing I did was attempt to open the front compartment. It did not work as I thought. I stopped for a moment and assessed the purse to think of another way it could open and eventually it opened. My little situation birthed this topic you are reading today.
The lesson I learned is before I conclude on a matter, carefully assess the situation and exercise patience. I want to connect this to a story in the Bible;
“Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. And there was a man called Zaccheus;
he was a chief tax collector [a superintendent to whom others reported], and he was
rich. Zaccheus was trying to see who Jesus was, but he could not see because of the
crowd, for he was short in stature. So he ran on ahead [of the crowd] and climbed up in
a sycamore tree in order to see Him, for He was about to pass through that way. When
Jesus reached the place, He looked up and said to him, “Zaccheus, hurry and come
down, for today I must stay at your house.” So Zaccheus hurried and came down, and
welcomed Jesus with joy. When the people saw it, they all began muttering [in
discontent], “He has gone to be the guest of a man who is a [notorious] sinner.”
Zaccheus stopped and said to the Lord, “See, Lord, I am [now] giving half of my
possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anyone out of anything, I will give back
four times as much.” Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this household,
because he, too, is a [spiritual] son of Abraham; for the Son of Man has come to seek
and to save that which was lost.”
Luke 19:1-10 AMP
There's a few things to pick out from this story. Zaccheus knew he had limitations: his short stature and the fact that he was a notorious sinner. Those reasons were not enough to keep him from reaching Jesus. He was determined to find a way to see and know Jesus. From the beginning he knew that he was up against the crowd and couldn't compete. After assessing the situation and using wisdom, he went far ahead of the crowd before Jesus could reach the destination that he would make himself visible by climbing a sycamore tree. Sycamore trees are massive in nature growing very tall. You can imagine how far Zaccheus had to go ahead of the crowd and climb such a tall tree.
The beautiful thing is that Zaccheus had in mind only to see Jesus, but at the end of the day He received more than his expectation. He received the biggest gift in this world, salvation that visited not only him but his entire household.
Zaccheus actions provoked Jesus to move in a unusual way in His life. My question to you is what will you do to provoke a move in your life? How far are you willing to go like Zaccheus?That problem that you have been trying to solve for so long may just need a different approach, mindset, or perspective. Ask God for wisdom. Ask Him to show you another way. Ask Him to order your steps and watch your breakthrough come forth in this season.
Don't allow your frustration and what seems like failure to hold you back any longer, keep on trying. Take a breather, quiet your spirit, and here's a great idea, go on a spiritual fast. What this will do for you is shed light on what is hidden. Your spirit man will become more active and aware than your flesh, causing you to be more sensitive to receive those long awaited answers.
