Jesus & the Woman of Samaria

I want you to ask yourself some questions:

  • What am I filling up on in life?

  • What have I filled my life with?

  • What's taking the place of God in my life right now?

Perhaps you've been drawing from a well that looks like water, that temporarily satisfies, yet you have to keep going back for more because you are not satisfied.

The woman at the well lived this story John‬ ‭4:1-42‬ ‭NLT‬‬ https://www.bible.com/116/jhn.4.1-42.nlt She wasn't even sure what she wanted in life. Her everyday life was an endless routine. Living the same pattern and cycle. She got it all wrong in her religious mindset:

  1. Thinking she could not associate herself with a Jew being she's a Samaritan

  2. She settled in her life: she never saw more about who she truly was

  3. She valued man-made creations above God (Jacob's well that he dug was so sacred in her eyes above anything else)

  4. She was blind spiritually

  5. She was lost with no direction or vision for the future

What did Jesus mean when he said to the woman:

“Jesus replied, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.”

‭‭John‬ ‭4:10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

She did not realize in that moment a gift have been given to her. So what is the gift of God?

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:23‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Jesus was indirectly telling her that the path in life she was headed on, the path of sin was going to lead her to destruction but little did she know a gift, an invitation was being offered to her in that moment. The gift of salvation, the gift of eternal life. Jesus knew about her sinful life and told her life history that she had 5 husbands and the one she currently was with is not her husband. This woman was shocked wondering how He knew everything about her life. Something to take note in this portion of scripture is that Jesus dwelled on the solution to her problem not so much on her sin. Jesus is concerned more about the answer to your problem because of the love He has for you, He's urging you today to drop your sin.

Jesus further explains vs 13-14

"Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of this water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

Jesus is speaking to you reading this: the things you are engaging yourself with right now in your life will never allow you to go far, the pleasures of this world will never satisfy, that's why you fill your life with "temporary solutions".

If you search deep within your heart and you know that you're tired of living the life you have been living so far, I have good news for you. Jesus is offering a gift to you just like the woman at the well. An invitation to allow Him to give you the living water. Jesus is the living water that when you accept Him into your life , you will never thirst again. He will satisfy your hunger, your thirst. That thing you can't explain in your life, yes He wants to fill you up with Himself. It doesn’t matter what you have done in your past, I'm talking about Jesus, the one that knows everything about you like He told everything about the woman at the well. He knows you better than yourself.

“On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’” (When he said “living water,” he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him. But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into his glory.)”

‭‭John‬ ‭7:37-39‬ ‭NLT‬‬

It's very simple, all you have to do is declare with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9). Accept Him into your heart and the scripture will be fulfilled concerning you that "Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." Meaning the moment you declare this statement from the depths of your heart, the Holy Spirit will come and live on the inside of you.

If this blog entry touched you and you would like to give your life over to Jesus say this salvation prayer out loud:

Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior from this moment forward

If you just said this prayer, CONGRATULATIONS!!! Know that heaven is rejoicing as you read this because you entered into the kingdom of heaven. You now have access to God, His very spirit now lives on the inside of you, the rivers of living water have been activated and will continually flow through you.

‭‭Luke‬ ‭15:10‬ ‭NLT https://www.bible.com/116/luk.15.10.nlt
