The statement of "moving forward" has been heavy on my spirit to share. The life we live is designed for us to keep moving forward. Think about it, you age every year. You can never be less in age than you are now. You cannot physically go back to being a toddler or an infant. This should tell you something. God has created systems for you to keep moving up and forward.
”Do not remember the former things, Or ponder the things of the past.“
Isaiah 43:18 AMP
”Brothers and sisters, I do not consider that I have made it my own yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead"
Philippians 3:13 AMP
Deliverance will come to you today if you change your mindset. Some of you are holding on, when it's time to "LET GO". Your freedom is moving on from that pain, regret, bad decision, relationship, friendship, or anything at all!
Let's examine a story from the Bible about God's plan to save Lot and his family. If you are not familiar with the story, please click and read the link below. Genesis 19:1-19
In Summary, the story is about an oncoming destruction of the city Sodom and Gomorrah where Lot and his family lived. Sin was ruling that place, grieving the heart of God and he was going to destroy it. For the sake of Lot and his family in God's mercy, He planned to save them and ensure they were preserved. Angels were sent to help Lot escape with clear instructions. Verse 16 mentions specific instructions:
Flee for your lives
Don't look back
Don't stop anywhere in the plain
Flee to the mountains or you will be swept away
Despite the warnings unfortunately, Lot's wife could not fully move forward as she looked back and instantly became a pillar of salt. That was the end of her. Many of us still behave this way! This story is not meant to scare you but to ask yourself questions. When God has a better plan for us we find it difficult to let go and forget about the past instead we find comfort in that place.
When God has moved from something in our lives, that means His presence has been removed from that thing and if you decide to stay, destruction is inevitable. The best place you can be is where God presence resides. If His presence cannot be found then you are on your own. When you make a decision to stay in the past there is little God can do. Many people like to blame God for heartbreak for example or other avoidable situations when God clearly showed you prior that it will end in destruction. But then you feel "I'll stay in the danger zone".
The fear of the unknown future is another factor that may be challenging some of you. God is above your life and situation so if He's not afraid then neither should you be. There is something glorious ahead if only you can let go and trust God. There was a time in my life that I experienced this very thing. I held on to something so tight that I did not want to let it go.
God showed me numerous time that I have something better but I blocked my ears (Thank God He was patient with me). The moment I had a revelation from my Pastor, that look this thing you want so bad there is nothing there move on, immediately something broke on the inside of me and instantly with the help of the Holy Spirit I let go and never turned back. What I wanted so bad, a better version came forth a few days later. Today I am so glad I did not make the wrong decision because I would have regretted it.
God is merciful and is looking out for your best interest. He loves you so much. Stop deceiving yourself that the situation will get better when God has already said move on. The scripture tells us His mercies are new every morning. Cast your fears, cares, worries upon Him for He cares for you.
